The Power of Products

It's a dismal, gray Monday morning at my house today and I need something to de-puff and smooth away the sleepiness. These are my favorite pick-me-ups:

Aveda Smoothing Body Polish will sluff you like no other! And it smells so yummy! (no joke this is my actual half empty bottle!)
Aveda Green Science Firming Eye Cream works wonders. I yearn for that slight burn and tingle when I dab it around my peepers. My eyes feel refreshed and my skin feel moisturized and soft.

2012 Award Season Hair

Here are my top hair picks this award season (in no particular order):

Ellie Kemper

Her color, her bangs, her dress. Need I say more?

Kaley Cuoco
Braids are still a huge trend right now and I think they're here to stay for awhile longer. Kaley killed it with this 60's inspired do!

Michelle Williams
Michelle Williams....le sigh. I am dying over this honey hued pixie!

Viola Davis
Bravo Viola! I am so happy to see her without a wig. She is inspiring in this natural look!

So, apparently, I'm loving all of the warmer hues we saw this season!

Products I Love

I'm a major product whore so you'll be seeing a lot of product reviews and recommendations from me. Here's my newest obsession:

Aveda's newest line INVATI is designed to keep the hair you have longer and strengthen. I can't tell you how many clients a day ask me how they can prevent hair loss and have thicker fuller hair. Well, this is it! I actually put this product to the test on myself. My hair is not "thinning" but it is definitely NOT naturally thick. I used Invati for a week and my hair felt thick and soft. AH-mazing! The line itself is compiled of three miracle products: the exfoliating shampoo, thickening conditioner, and scalp revitalizer spray. I say, give it a try!

Let's get started...

Humans have been fussing with our hair for ages.  In 4000 B.C.,  Egyptians crafted combs out of dried fishbones and in 2000 B.C., created shampoo from citrus fruits, animal fat, and plant oils. Thank you, Egyptians! In 1500 B.C., Assyrian kings had their hair curled with hot iron bars. And who can overlook Cleopatra's trend setting ways in 35 B.C. ,when she adorned her Raven locks with jewel-studded Ivory pins.

Many of our high expectations that leave us all whimpering blobs of insecurities from time to time came about from our ancestors, also. In 35 B.C., Roman prostitutes were forced to color their hair blonde. (makes you wonder if blondes really have more fun, right?) And in the 1400's, Machiavelli set the standard for women's hair with his announcement that women should be crowned with hair that is "loose and blonde, sometimes the color of gold, at other times honey, shiny as the rays of sun, wavy, thick, and long, scattered in long curls, and fluttering on the shoulders"
....hmmph now that explains a lot!!
